FlexyTrack — Quick Guide -Blender Addon Flexible Rigging Chain Tutorial

What it does this Blender addon do ?

FlexyTrack Addon for Blender

The Blender addon FlexyTrack help to create flexible rigging chain. Creates a Damped Track chain on the descendants of the selected bone, using that bone as the root of the chain. This allows you to build a flexible system without relying on physical simulation.

How to use

  1. Select your armature.

  2. Switch to Pose Mode.

  3. Select the root bone of the chain.

  4. Make sure this root bone is the active bone.

  5. Open View3D > Sidebar > FlexyTrack.

  6. Choose a falloff mode or apply a preset.

  7. Click Apply Damped Track.

Main options

  • Global Flexibility: base influence value.

  • Falloff Mode:

    • Linear: influence decreases evenly along the chain.

    • Exponential: influence decreases with a stronger curve.

    • Constant: same influence on all bones.

  • Decay Power: only used in Exponential mode.

Presets

  • Fish: good for fish-like body or tail motion.

  • Octopode: softer progressive motion.

  • Rope: constant influence on the whole chain.

Notes for better use this Blender addon for flexible rigging chain

  • Best results of this Blender Addon are obtained with a single bone chain.

  • If the hierarchy contains branches, Flexytrack may still work, but the result can be less predictable for flexible rigging chain.

  • Use Clear Damped Track to remove the generated constraints.

  • No physics simulation is required.
